Standard trails last for seven nights, however tailored packages are available

- Minimum age 18

- Ride time per day: Up to 8h per day

- Weight limit: 14st/195 pounds/90kgs



Transfers are included in the price of your trip if you fly in to Durban International airport

(Travel insurance is obligatory. You are responsible for arranging your own travel insurance.  Medical expenses and emergency repatriation covering emergency and medical evacuation is mandatory. Ensure horse riding is included in your insurance policy. Underberg horse trails and safaris reserves the right to cancel your booking without the required insurance.)

Lesotho is a land of clear blue skies and more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Summer is the rainy season, 85% of rainfall occurs from October to April, summer temperatures can reach 30 °C (86 °F).

Winters can get down to  −7 °C  at times however the days are beautiful with sunshine and no rain.



Light weight cotton clothing for the summer days and warmer layers for the evenings. Warm layers for the winter days and a heavy weight top layer for the evenings. Comfortable riding shoes/boots.. Chaps. Riding hat. Water proof rain coat. Gloves. Sun hat. Sun block. 



There is no additional charge for single occupancy.



Always listen to the guides. Your safety is our priority.

Never ride off until ALL riders are mounted and the guide has instructed.

Never pass the guide in front unless he/she said you may do so.

Do not make loud noises or sudden movements around the horses.



There are risks involved in horse riding, horses can be unpredictable and accidents can happen as with any sport. It is very important to be honest with us when booking your holiday. We rely on the information you provide us with, please advise us of any medical health conditions with the information you provide with your riding experience and fitness.

Safety comes first when riding with us. We ride in remote locations and the trips we offer are strenuous involving many hours on horse back.



Riding hats are mandatory when riding with us and must comply with current PAS and BSEN safety standards. Wide brimmed covers are available to purchase in the UK to fit over a skull cap.



Wifi is not available during our trails, however local sim cards, data and airtime can be purchased.



Once we have confirmed your booking, payment can either be made directly to

Underberg Horse Trails and Safaris, or can be completed using our payments page.




Cancellations made 70 days before departure are fully refundable.

Cancellations made within 29-70 days of departure are partially refundable, with only the deposit deducted.

Cancellations made within 29 days of departure are non-refundable.
